There are many places on the map to enjoy when it’s time to make the most of a well-deserved vacation. However, for those with a passion for sun, sand, and surf, there’s no place better than Siesta Key. While there are many options for fun in this beautiful and exciting destination, half the adventure lies in maximizing time on the sand. When you’re lucky enough to have three days to spare in the name of fun, the following is a Siesta Key itinerary for the best beach journey that you’re going to want to take advantage of!
Day 1: Explore Siesta Beach
If you’re the type of traveler that’s looking to start with the most iconic of beach stops during your stay, heading to Siesta Beach on day one of your journey is a must! This stretch of shoreline can easily be accessed at 948 Beach Road and promises to be a place where you can work on a tan, explore the water, or dig your toes into the sand with ease. The land that’s designated at Siesta Beach today was first purchased in the 1950s via referendum. Visitors will still find the historic pavilion on-site that was designed by Edward Seibert who learned his trade at the renowned Sarasota School of Architecture. Time at Siesta Beach is easy to personalize thanks to the area’s wonderful options for swimming, outdoor dining, and sand volleyball alike. Many beach goers with little one’s love that this stop has a playground as well as options for concessions. Siesta Beach is also outfitted with beach wheelchairs to rent making time here enjoyable for all. If you’re up for some hiking adventures, you’ll find that the beach connects with a variety of trails to explore which are ideal for wildlife and bird watching adventures too.
You’re going to want to hang around Siesta Beach until at least sunset when the Siesta Key Drum Circle starts up. This Sunday night event is free to the public and is an enjoyable moment for beach goers to experience dancers and musicians making an impromptu performance right on the sand!
Day 2: Turtle Beach & Palmer Point Beach
The second day of your beach journey to Siesta Key starts at Turtle Beach. Located at 8918 Midnight Pass Road, Turtle Beach was originally named for the many sea turtle nesting habitats that graced the shoreline here. A visit to Turtle Beach gives adventurers a chance to make the most of swimming, fishing, sand volleyball, outdoor grilling and more. This beach enjoys a wonderful boat ramp as well as a playground and horseshoe pit too. Compared to Siesta Beach, Turtle Beach has smaller crowds and is loved by those with a passion for wildlife watching too.
For an even more secluded beach going experience, follow up Turtle Beach today with at rip to Palmer Point Beach. Located on the south end of Siesta Key, this beach is truly a place of tranquility. It’s defined by its gently sloping shoreline and dune system. Here, visitors will find a plethora of coastal vegetation as well as gopher tortoises! It’s a wonderful place for a stroll on the sand and provides access to a fishing pier as well.
Day 3: Crescent Beach
The final day of your Siesta Key beach adventure is focused on natural beauty and access to exploration. You’ll be heading to Crescent Beach today which is only about 2 miles south of Siesta Key Village. Do note that there isn’t public parking available for this beach, so you’ll want to plan on walking in. Once you arrive, the effort will be worth your while. Crescent Beach is known and loved for its powder-soft sand and endless blue waves. It’s a popular beach stop in the area where visitors often take time to enjoy jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, boogie boarding and parasailing too! Whether you’re spending time sunbathing or enjoying a game of beach volleyball, it’s a beach that’s worth your while to enjoy. It’s also an access point to Point of Rocks! This is ideal for those up for discovery and adventure. Point of Rocks is comprised of limestone wall outcroppings surrounding tide pools. Here at the right times of day, you can see urchins, and crabs making their way through the water when the tide is at its lowest.
